Dennis B. Rogers, Ph.D.

Dr. Rogers is a sought after speaker on issues of student leadership development, higher education and providing an analysis of historic and contemporary political events, phenomena and personalities. He is a co-founder of the Edward Alexander Bouchet Graduate Honor Society, chartered by Yale and Howard Universities in honor of the first African American awarded the Doctor of Philosophy degree, Dr. Bouchet (in Physics), in 1876 from Yale University. Dr. Rogers has had numerous media appearances including Black Entertainment Television (BET), Cable News Network (CNN) and C-Span. Dr. Rogers is a double alumnus of Howard University. In 2008 he earned the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Political Science, and in 2003 he received the Master of Arts in Political Science. He was awarded the Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from North Carolina State University (NCSU). Dr. Rogers also holds a certificate in Graduate Student Faculty Preparation. He is a 2008 inductee in Who’s Who Among College and University Students. He has conducted educational tours to Benin, Ghana, Egypt, France, Italy, Morocco and Spain. He has traveled internationally to over 20 countries. Dr. Rogers has served in leadership capacities at every level of his educational experience. He served as a member of the Class Council and Student Government Vice President in High School with 2500 students and a graduating class of 400. He served as two-term President of the Society of African American Culture at NCSU, with a total student population of 25,000 students. In Graduate School at Howard University, a Carnegie designated Research Intensive University, he served: as the two-term Vice President of the Graduate Political Science Student Association and two-term President of the Graduate Student Council, representing the 40 MA and Ph.D. degree granting programs. While completing his doctoral dissertation, he was unanimously elected by fellow graduate and professional school students to serve on the Howard University Board of Trustees. In this capacity he represented the 5000 students in the Divinity School, Graduate School, Medical School, School of Dentistry, School of Pharmacy, School of Law, School of Social Work and School of Education. Dr. Rogers has served as a representative to the White House Conference on Social Security and attended numerous White House briefings on issues relevant to students and higher education. He also attends briefings of the Washington Secretariat of Higher Education. He is a 2008 inductee in the Who’s Who Among College and University Students. Dr. Rogers has worked beside, shared the microphone and/or stage with such scholars and leaders as: Dr. John Hope Franklin, Dr. Na’im Akbar, Dr. Cornel West, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Joseph Lowery, Mr. Dick Gregory, Atty. Vernon Jordan, Mr. Earl Graves, Mr. Richard “Dick” Parsons, Dr. Dorothy I. Height, Dr. Ronald Walters, Georgia State Senator Kasim Reed, Hon. Douglas Wilder, Governor of Virginia, Hon. Duvall Patrick Governor of Massachusetts, Member of U.S. Congress John Conyers, Chair of the Committee on the Judiciary, U.S. Congressman Charles Rangel, Chair of House Committee on Ways and Means, Former Secretary of State General Colin Powell, the 42nd U.S. President William Jefferson Clinton and the 44th U.S. President Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. Dr. Rogers is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of the District of Columbia. He is also the Chairman/CEO of Ma’at Enterprises, LLC. a cultural communications company. He is married and lives in Washington, DC.
