Alex Hale

I am young artist, who is looking to put myself and work out into the world. I live and work in Bristol, creating these sculpture that fascinate my fascination with shapes and using various materials from wood, rusty metal and concrete. My way of working is that I like to create a different perception on the piece I am making and how it changes that perception from one angle to another, seeing something different that you wouldn’t see from another angle. He is inspired by shapes as they seem give him something more to play about and to generate new ideas with as shapes has influenced through most his work including the piece in this show. He is drawn to the natural look of the piece rather than adding the likes of colour as he feels it wouldn’t work. Working with plaster offers him to try new ideas through the objects he makes and the way he uses plaster offers him more freedom to be more hands on with his work. His fascination of shapes is becoming more of mystery with which he is looking forward to discovering more about with the work that I continue to produce and the way I place these shapes in these positions dwells on a feeling inside on whether I feel that particular shape will work there or somewhere else is his way of working through his making which I hope all people will see through the work he makes. As well as being an artist, I am looking to go into the teaching profession and to one day become a full time primary school teacher. This is my ambition to become a teacher on a full time basis as it is a passion that I feel like I can really contribute to.
